The Different Types Of Flexible Conduits

The Different Types Of Flexible Conduits 150 150 Flex-It Co. Uk - Flexible Conduit Systems & Wiring Accessories

If you’re looking for a solution to help protect and route your electrical cables, then you’re in the right place.

Flexible conduits are tubes that are designed to do just this.

They carry electrical wiring in domestic, commercial, and industrial buildings or structures. Their main purpose is to shield the encased wires from fire, mechanical damage, water, and corrosion.

There are a few different types of both metallic and non-metallic conduits you can choose from for your projects – we discuss some of them in this article.

C-Series – PVC Covered Steel Range

Our PVC covered steel range is designed to provide high mechanical protection and is best suited to highly corrosive environments.

No matter if your project is above or below ground, PVC covered steel conduits make the perfect choice for any commercial or industrial area.

They’re extremely durable, especially in wet and rainy conditions, and great at preventing your electrical sockets from overheating and causing fires. They look great, too!

With this range, you can be confident that your home or business is well protected.

C-Series – LSOH Covered Steel Range

At Flex It, our Low Smoke Zero Halogen covered steel or LSOH range is again designed to provide high mechanical protection, but is specifically recommended for use in public areas where poor ventilation and public safety is of concern.

It’s ideal for use in structures like train stations, airports, shopping centres, elevators, and many other public spaces.

A unique vacuum extrusion process allows this range to have a thin TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) jacket, which doesn’t restrict the unmatched flexibility of the inner galvanised steel core – and it also offers a degree of weatherproofing.

D-Series – Liquid Tight Metallic Range

A liquid-tight conduit is a type of metallic flexible conduit that’s designed to provide extra protection against corrosion and water penetration.

Made from hot-dipped galvanised steel and coated in PVC, it’s stronger and less vulnerable to damage than any other flexible conduit – ensuring reliability for years to come.

Our D-series range is available in two types: EF and LA.

Both are rated IP67 liquid-tight, flame retardant, and sunlight, UV, and oil resistant. Providing maximum durability and safety, they’re ideal for the most demanding applications, such as:

  • Lighting
  • Air conditioning systems
  • Fire alarm systems

F-Series – Steel Overbraided Range

Wherever tight-spot installations and high protection is required, our Steel Overbraided range is ideal.

High mechanical strength with resistance to traction, torsion, and compression make this product perfect for many different applications, from welding equipment and metal machinery to transport and security systems.

The overbraiding provides efficient EMC screening capabilities, making them well-suited for applications within hazardous areas – defence, food, and healthcare industries for example.

SS-Series – Stainless Steel (304) Range

Stainless steel conduits are especially useful as casing for cables that require both mechanical and chemical protection.

The grade 304 steel we use in the manufacture of our conduits at Flex It is highly durable and provides excellent levels of corrosion protection.

It also operates as armour against impacts or accidental crushing, leaving your wires and cables unharmed.

These specialist conduits can also withstand extreme temperatures and have been tested at lows of -45°C and highs of +450°C – making them ideal for the most challenging environments.
