Benefits of Stainless Steel Conduits

Benefits of Stainless Steel Conduits 150 150 Flex-It Co. Uk - Flexible Conduit Systems & Wiring Accessories

If there are large numbers of cables that supply your business with power, data or anything else besides, it is highly likely that they will need protecting and organising for the safety of your equipment and staff as well as ease of maintenance and access.

This is where flexible conduits come in. Protective “tubes” or casings of this kind will keep the right cables together and shield them from potential damage.

At Flex-It, we offer a range of practical flexible conduits, including specialist stainless steel conduit that is particularly popular within the steel, foundry, marine and shipbuilding industries, but also comes in exceptionally useful for multiple other fields.

Uses have included everything from outer shells for temperature measuring devices to a protective casing for sensitive fibre optics.

So, what does steel conduit have to offer your business? Read on to find out.

Significant Protective Properties

Stainless steel conduits are particularly useful as casing for cabling that requires mechanical and chemical protection.

Though not watertight (offering an ingress protection of IP40), the grade 304 steel we use in the fabrication of our conduits is highly durable, with significant levels of corrosion protection. It also serves as armour against impacts or accidental crushing, leaving wires and cables undamaged.

With a compression strength of 1250 N, a tensile strength of 500 N and an impact strength of 6 J, our steel conduits are exceptionally tough.

These specialist conduits are also significantly resistant to extremes of temperature and have been tested at lows of -45°C and highs of +400°C.

Highly Flexible

Of course, one of the main draws of all of our flexible conduits is just that: their flexibility. They can be easily positioned to skirt safely around obstacles and carry cables and wires from their source to their destination without any requirement for fussy or weak joints.

A Range of Sizes

Customers can request stainless steel flexible conduit in coil sizes of 50 or 100 metres, with a 10mm, 16mm, 20mm and 25mm diameter.

Where fittings are required, Flex-It can provide 16, 20 or 25mm varieties depending on your preference.

In the case of both conduit and fittings, other sizes are available on request.

All steel conduits are manufactured to BS EN 61386.
